Genesis has donated hundreds of pounds of vital funds to local and national charities in their time of need this Christmas.

From NHS heroes and care home volunteers, to animal shelters and mental health workers, the gift amounted to £850 for good causes.

The company donated £50 to each charity chosen by its 17-strong team in a festive gesture of goodwill following an unprecedented year of challenges wrought by the pandemic.

Director Penny Arbuthnot said: “We know that charities and not-for-profits have been hit hardest this year and so we felt it was only right to give back and spread some Christmas cheer by asking our staff to choose a charity close to their hearts for us to support.”

One such charity which received a donation was Suffolk Mind. Amanda Sturgeon, Corporate Fundraising Manager, said: “We can’t thank Genesis enough for their donation to Suffolk Mind. Donations like this help us to develop and run vital services to support more people across Suffolk and make counselling affordable for people who can’t afford to wait or go private.

“We are needed now more than ever as many people’s lives have been turned upside down in recent months; we are helping more and more people who are accessing our services and want to continue offering this support for years to come.”

The charities being supported are: Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Dogs Trust, East Anglia Dog Rescue, East Anglian Air Ambulance, Fresh Start New Beginnings, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Ipswich Hospital Play Project Appeal, Refuge, SADS UK, Sesaw, St Helena Hospice, Suffolk Mind, The Mix, WaterAid and the Zoological Society of East Anglia.
